Calengee is a Fine Jewellery brand initiated by Suad Almualla in her small studio in Hamad Town Bahrain.
Since childhood, Suad was in love with accessories, wearing them, altering them, cutting chains and reconnecting them.
When Suad used to go overboard accessorising herself her mum used to call her ‘Maryam Calengee’.
Maryam Calengee is a fictional character from her mum’s folklore, most likely she used to live by the sea, creating her own seashell necklaces and wearing excessive accessories!
Calengee the brand extends itself from Maryam and her love affair with jewellery.
At Calengee, we create 18 and 21 karat solid gold jewellery.
We do not incorporate into our pieces ‘gold plated’, ‘gold vermeil’ or ‘gold filled’ materials.
All of our Jewels are stamped and authorised as Solid Bahraini Gold by the Bahraini Ministry of Industry and Commerce
Calengee uses precious and semiprecious gemstones. We are upright when it comes to the nature of the gemstones used in our jewellery. We declare whether the gemstones are natural, lab grown, treated or dyed.
Some designs call for crystals and other media. When this is the case, Calengee aims for the best quality materials.
When it comes to pearls, we only use sea water pearls. We are based in Bahrain and the use of freshwater pearls is prohibited to sustain the tradition of pearl diving.
Every pearl used in our Jewells has been individually fished from the Arabian Gulf waters and carefully set into our pieces.
Some of the Jewels are handmade, therefore variations could occur between pieces. Some of the pieces are limited editions and are only made once.
